#COGSEUROFEST22 – 10.07.22

As part of the UEFA Women’s EURO 2022 Legacy Project for Host City, Brighton & Hove, we are holding a National Women’s (30+) Recreational Football Festival.

#COGSEUROFEST22 will be held on 10th July 2022, the day before the Lionesses play at The Brighton & Hove Community Stadium, so an ideal time to stay over and go to the second England group game, on the 11th July!

All the details will be coming shortly and will be on this page, but for now, here are some of them:

The day will be a fun Festival for Beginners/Intermediate/Experienced Recreational players only, played on grass.  No League registered players will be accepted.  This Festival won’t be an all out competitive tournament to win trophies, it’s being held for women to enjoy and have fun playing other teams, get to know them and generally have a fun time socialising, while playing football.  As with previous COGS’ Festivals, there will be awards given out for each of the groups.  We want to make sure that women who have just started playing, as well as those who have been playing for a while, are able to play in the right groups.   There will be groups for Beginners/Intermediate players and Intermediate/Experienced players.  Each team should know which group to enter their players into but if you’re not sure, please ask.  Teams need to consist of players aged 30+ but will be allowed to bring 2 players under 30 and over 25, where only 1 player will be allowed to play on the pitch, at any one time.

Each team will have a minimum of 7 players and a maximum of 10 players and it is up to teams to manage the game time for all of your players.  We will have 6 x 7v7 pitches, with 8 teams on each pitch and each team will represent a country which first entered the UEFA Women’s EURO 2022 Competition.  Due to the number of teams, the games will be played throughout the whole day and there will be refreshments, with a BBQ and the bar will be open!  Once everything is tidied up, there will be a Disco in the evening with some old skool tunes and possibly some new ones, with some cheesy ones thrown in!

More details will be available soon and hopefully those teams who entered the previous #COGSFEST20 Festival, which we had to cancel due to COVID, will come along.  In the meantime, SAVE THE DATE and start planning!
