COGS receive #celebratenationallottery25 Funding for new Women’s 40+ Walking Football Sessions.

It was with great excitement we learnt, this week, that we had been successful in receiving some funding, from the special 25th Birthday Celebration Fund of The National Lottery.  This will be extremely beneficial in helping us to promote and get more women, aged 40+, active through our new Walking Football sessions.   These sessions are specifically geared towards women who may not have been active for a while and who would like to do something that is fun, can increase fitness and also helps to make more friends.  Women’s Walking Football is relatively new and following on from our ethos of bringing women into the game for fun and enjoyment, we felt this was something that we really wanted to include with our regular beginner, intermediate and advanced recreational football sessions.   Walking Football is a slower paced version of the beautiful game and is suited to those who may have not been active for a while or who have previously had an injury.  The sessions are fun and you only go at your own pace.

Getting active at age 40+ is really important for not only mental health but physical health too and you’ll meet some brilliant women while you’re playing.  We have some great social events too!  If you’ve not played before this is an ideal session for you to start.  No experience is required to join in.

We’re going to be playing indoors too, so it won’t be in the cold!

Sessions will involve a warm up, some drills and a game at the end and it will all be fun and enjoyable regardless of anyone’s ability.

We are extremely grateful to The National Lottery Community Fund for choosing us as part of their #celebratenationallottery25 Fund. This will enable us to provide equipment, funded sessions and will help to train another female coach.  The National Lottery has distributed money through its Community Fund to “good causes”. Since 2004 it has awarded over £6 billion to more than 130,000 projects in the UK.  We are very proud to be one of those!

If you are in the RH10 area and would like to try something new, please come along, the first session is FREE.  All the details are below:

Women’s Walking Football was also a new category in the FA People’s Cup last year, which will be known as The FA Fives this year, to celebrate the 60th Anniversary year of UEFA EURO 2020.  This is an amateur national competition for anyone to enter and is run by The FA.  If you are interested in joining in, the link is here:  http://www.thefa.com/news/2019/dec/04/register-your-interest-in-fa-fives-021219.

Thank you The National Lottery for including us in your #celebratenationallottery25 Fund!
