New for 2020! COGS’ Women’s Walking Football Sessions

We are going to be running NEW COGS’ Women only Walking Football sessions from 20th January 2020!  Come and join us!

Women’s Walking Football is becoming increasingly popular among women aged 40+ and was a new inclusion in the FA’s national amateur 5 a-side football competition, the FA People’s Cup, this year.  It’s a slower paced version of the game and includes laws such as no tackling, no running and the ball has to stay below head height.

It’s great for women who want to learn to play, as well as those who may be coming back from injury or those who just enjoy playing a slower paced game.

Getting active at age 40+ is really important for not only mental health but physical health too and you’ll meet some brilliant women while you’re playing.  If you’ve not played before this is an ideal session for you to start!

We’re going to be playing indoors too, so it won’t be in the cold!

Sessions will involve a warm up, some drills and a game at the end and it will all be fun and enjoyable regardless of anyone’s ability.

The first session is FREE and the following sessions will be £5 each.  We have applied for #CelebrateLottery25 funding, so if we’re lucky enough to get that, then the sessions for the first 14 weeks will be free.

For more information, email cogscrawley@gmail.com or if you want a chat, feel free to call Carol Bates on 07837523370.

The session will be held at Hazelwick School in the Lower School Sports Hall, Crawley, RH10 1SX and will be from 6.30-7.30pm on Monday evenings.  Please arrive at least 15 minutes before the session starts.  Ideally, you should wear trainers and comfortable clothing with layers you can remove as you may get hotter as you play.  Please also bring along shin pads, and water to keep you hydrated.  There will be female coaches and we would encourage anyone over 40 to give it a try, especially those who are not physically active.  We don’t think you’ll regret it!
